What to do Next - Suggestions for Action

Donate:
There are many Irish and international organisations responding to emergencies. Each has its own distinct way of working, and their own mandate. There are international organisations - such as for instance the UN organisations for refugees, children and coordination and the European Union's office for humanitarian aid - and national organisations such as Irish Aid.

And there are lots of private aid agencies, or NGOs: they differ in approach, because they each have different constituencies and areas of expertise. At the same time, most of them have signed up to internationally agreed standards and codes of conduct.

Of these, the following organisations are member of the Dóchas Working Group on Humanitarian Aid:

Volunteer:

If you want to volunteer your time and experience to aid agencies, please have a look at the Volunteering Options website, providing you with suggestions and information about issues to consider.

Campaign:
Your help in campaigning for a fairer world is of great value to the Irish NGOs.

Most of the Dóchas members are involved in campaigns, and others are listed on the Development Education website.

Learn More:
There are numerous websites and resources providing you with more information about disasters and the best ways to respond to them. We have listed some of them here.
